Nature Connected Coach
Michael Sullivan, MA, NCC
About Michael
Michael received his Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Central Michigan University in 2004 and worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) until 2022 when he received training and certification as a Nature Connected Coach (Certified by the Earth Base Institute in Boulder CO). Michael’s work as an LPC included street outreach to people with severe mental illness and addiction issues, career and education counseling at Ferris State University and starting a Native American cultural sensitive, multi bed residential/detox/outpatient program in Michigan called Bear River Health at Walloon Lake.
Growing up on the Bay Mills Indian Reservation in Upper Michigan, Michael was surrounded by vast acres of forest, to sights and sounds of pow-wows and the breathtaking presence of Lake Superior. This natural environment became his playground as he ran barefoot through the woods, accompanied by his loyal canine companion, and explored the serene beauty of the Great Lakes with his native grandfather, Ira. These experiences created a profound connection between Michael and the natural world, nurturing his deep respect for nature and its healing powers.
Always wanting to combine his healing work with the powerful healing of nature is what led Michael to the Earth Based Institute to become a certified Nature Connected Coach and also Open Sky Wilderness Therapy where Michael ran family quests with students in the Open Sky program for three years. Michael brings his seventeen years of experience as a psychotherapist to his coaching practice, having supported countless individuals on their path to emotional well-being and self-realization. Michael created Willder Sage as a sanctuary for those seeking healing, guidance, and a profound connection with the natural world. In this haven, the rhythms of the heart, the pulse of the earth, and the wisdom of ancient traditions converge to create an environment where personal growth and transformation can flourish.
